About two years ago, a friend of mine brought me this old VHS tape of a family hog killing. As I began to watch it, I thought about how this would make a great song, and afterwards, I sat down and wrote the words to “Hog Killin’ Time.” Right away, I began to put together some ideas for a video for the song. We’re fortunate enough to have been able to use some of the old footage in our music video, which is included on the CD. The art of small, family hog killings such as the one depicted in the song and video is slowly dying out. We’re glad to be able to honor that long-time family tradition and to pay respect to those old-timers who keep their family and community fed.
